Protect our Heritage and Irish Cultural Celebrations

The Issue

I am witnessing a disturbing trend where our youth are being told that it's not okay to celebrate being Irish. It seems everyone else is encouraged to take pride in their heritage, but when it comes to celebrating our own, we're told it's wrong. Why is this acceptable? Why shouldn't we, the people of a small but proud island, celebrate who we are? Our culture is celebrated worldwide, yet now there are efforts to silence us—efforts fueled by individuals who have themselves financially benefited from our rich heritage. We are an indigenous group deserving of protection. The Gaelic Revival was dedicated to preserving our culture, and we should continue to uphold that mission.

Intentional efforts from certain extremist groups on the far left aim to shut down celebrations of Irish culture and heritage, like the Mise Éire festival. This is not merely an attack on a festival but an attack on our very identity—a form of "cancel culture" that seeks to suppress any views that don't align with their agenda. Censorship is wrong, and freedom of speech was not given to us; it was fought for by our ancestors. We cannot allow the voices of our small island to be drowned out by those paid to promote alternative agendas.

Our music, traditions, and history hold immense importance. They are woven into the fabric of our national identity and must be preserved for future generations. It is time for us to stand up against these insidious efforts to censor our culture. It is time for us to protect our Irish identity against those who seek to erase it.

I call on everyone who respects freedom of speech, cultural diversity, and the rich heritage of Ireland to stand with us. Sign this petition to stand against efforts to cancel Irish culture and protect our cultural celebrations, such as the Mise Éire festival. Your signature can help ensure that our music, traditions, and history remain alive and vibrant for the generations to come.
