Losing innocent people to the law due to wrongful convictions is a grave injustice. In Louisiana, many individuals have been charged with serious crimes like murder, conspiracy to commit murder, or being an accessory to murder without having any intent to commit these acts nor the knowledge these such acts will occur. They are often witnesses who have been railroaded by friends, family members, or strangers into participating in actions they did not agree to just by being present/witnesses at the time of the event. This exploitation violates their human rights and undermines the integrity of our justice system. Some people are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and that shouldn’t make them guilty in the eyes of our justice system for crimes that was not committed by them.
