The Issue

To: Frankfort Village Officials, Town and County Leaders, and New York State Decision-Makers

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of the Frankfort, NY community, urgently call upon our local, state, and federal officials to pursue funding and approval for the construction of a sound barrier wall along Route 5S, particularly near the neighborhoods of Country View Drive, Piper Lane, Maple Drive, Litchfield Road, Putnam Place, Brookside Drive, Spruce Drive and 1st - 5th Ave Extensions.

Over recent years, the volume of traffic on Route 5S has increased dramatically, due in part to the growth of nearby commercial developments such as Tractor Supply and other businesses. While economic growth is welcome, it has brought with it a surge in traffic noise that has drastically reduced the quality of life for nearby residents.

What was once a peaceful, family-friendly environment has become plagued by persistent, loud, and intrusive highway noise—morning, day, and night. Children can't play outside without the hum of engines, neighbors struggle to enjoy their yards, and families can no longer open their windows without being met with constant noise pollution.

Frankfort is a proud, tight-knit community. Many of us were raised here and have chosen to stay and raise our own families here. We are not asking for luxury—we are asking for the same consideration that has been extended to other communities affected by highway noise.

We respectfully request that our officials work together to:

Seek funding from the New York State Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, or other infrastructure grants.

Prioritize a noise impact study and environmental review in these neighborhoods.

Approve and support the construction of a sound barrier to protect the well-being of Frankfort residents.

This is an investment not just in infrastructure, but in our community’s health, property values, and overall quality of life.

Please sign this petition to let our voices be heard. Help us restore the peace and quiet that makes Frankfort a truly special place to live.
