Protect Dehradun: Control Outsider Road Accidents, Overcrowding & Tourist Inflow
Protect Dehradun: Control Outsider Road Accidents, Overcrowding & Tourist Inflow
The Issue
Dehradun, once known for its peaceful roads, clean air, and safe environment, is now struggling with rising road accidents, overcrowding, and reckless behavior — mostly caused by vehicles and tourists from outside states like Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Almost every major road accident in Dehradun involves an outsider’s vehicle. Outsiders, often unfamiliar with our traffic rules and narrow hill roads, drive rashly, putting local lives at risk and disturbing our city’s calm. The increasing number of outsiders entering Dehradun has also led to heavy traffic jams, overcrowded streets, and public disturbances.
A recent shocking incident at ISBT flyover is a clear example. A man from Uttar Pradesh got into a public argument and fired a gunshot during a dispute, causing panic in a busy area. Such incidents are becoming increasingly common as outsiders with reckless, lawless behavior flood our city unchecked.
If this continues, Dehradun will lose its peaceful identity, and daily life for residents will become unbearable. Women, students, and commuters already feel unsafe navigating the roads and markets. Locals can no longer enjoy their own city due to constant overcrowding, accidents, and traffic chaos.
We urgently demand the following actions:
✅ Strict control and verification of outsider vehicles entering Dehradun.
✅ Heavy penalties and immediate action against reckless driving by outsiders.
✅ Controlled, limited tourist inflow into Dehradun, especially during weekends and peak seasons.
✅ Increased traffic management, police presence, and road safety measures.
✅ Public awareness campaigns on responsible driving and respecting local road rules.
Dehradun deserves to remain a safe, peaceful, and livable city for its people. Let’s unite to protect our roads, restore public order, and demand proper controls on tourist inflow and outsider vehicle entry. Sign this petition and raise your voice for Dehradun’s safety.
