We are students, alumni, families, and community members concerned about the sudden increase in international undergraduate tuition and fees at the University of Regina for 2026.

This petition is not about domestic students versus international students. It is about affordability, fair notice, and protecting continuing students who are already partway through their degrees.

Many international students made financial plans based on previous yearly increases, which were generally much smaller. A sudden major increase creates serious pressure for students who have already committed to U of R, signed leases, arranged loans, planned work hours, and built graduation timelines.

Universities may face financial pressures, but continuing students should not be forced to absorb sudden cost shocks without meaningful protection.

We are asking the University of Regina to:

1. Introduce phase-in options for continuing international students
   Provide fair notice before major international tuition changes.
2. Consult students before major fee changes.
3. Create support options for students already enrolled and financially affected.      

We believe students deserve transparency, fair treatment, and protection from sudden unaffordable increases.
