Protect American Small Business Owners and Stop the TikTok "Ban"

The Issue

There are approximately 170 million American users on Tiktok.

Millions of American users and small business owners rely on TikTok not just for entertainment but also as the public face of their brand and business. There are millions of creators with a carefully curated business on the TikTok Shop which allows small business owners the freedom to market themselves and their products.

This platform has become an integral part of lives and livelihoods. Allowing TikTok to be divested, sold off to potentially nefarious corporate actors, and/or effectively "banned" would put millions of small businesses at risk, affecting not only the owners but also their employees and customers who depend on these services.

TikTok is more than just a social media platform; it has evolved into a significant economic driver. According to Omnicore's 2020 report, there are over 800 million active users worldwide with 50% of them being under the age of 34 (source: Omnicore). Many use this platform to promote their small businesses and reach out to this vast user base.

The restriction on TikTok access would mean stripping away these opportunities from countless Americans who have found in it a means to survive and thrive in today's digital economy. We cannot let this happen without raising our voices against it.

We urge you to reconsider this decision for the sake of millions whose livelihoods depend on TikTok. We urge you to stand with the over 170 million Americans and small business owners who use this platform.
