A deeply personal experience has led me to petition for a change in the popular online game Fortnite. Recently, it has been skewed towards practices and game scenarios that eerily seem to advocate witchcraft. Players are apparently required to 'sell their souls' to a character referred to as Mephisto, a notorious figure linked to the devil, to reboot their teammates. This alarming emphasis on witchcraft damages the game's essence and exposes young, impressionable minds to themes they might be ill-equipped to fully understand.

Aside from being morally questionable, this could potentially lead to a harmful misinterpretation of the significance of 'selling one's soul.' According to a study in the Journal of Youth Studies, exposure to such themes in popular culture can cause confusion and fear among children and teenagers (Journal of Youth Studies, 2018)

We, the concerned and informed players, parents, and community members, ask the game developers at Epic Games to remove these elements from Fortnite and focus on creating a healthy and educational gaming environment for all. Please sign this petition to encourage a more responsible gaming ethic in Fortnite.
