The Issue

North Staffordshire is facing increasing demand for affordable, high-quality homes for local people. Young families, first-time buyers and key workers are finding it harder than ever to stay in the communities where they grew up.

Chatterley Valley represents one of the largest remaining development opportunities in our area. While employment and investment are important, we believe the current emphasis on warehouses and logistics should be reconsidered to ensure the site delivers the greatest long-term benefit for local residents.

We are calling on our local councils to review the future of Chatterley Valley and explore the potential for a well-planned, sustainable community that includes:

Affordable homes for local families and first-time buyers.
• Green spaces, parks and areas for nature.
• Safe walking and cycling routes.
• Local schools, healthcare and community facilities.
• High-quality employment opportunities alongside housing where appropriate.

This is not about opposing economic growth. It is about creating balanced development that meets both the need for jobs and the urgent need for homes.

We ask the councils to carry out a full public consultation on whether all or part of Chatterley Valley should be allocated for housing as part of future planning decisions, ensuring local residents have a genuine voice in shaping the future of our community.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a vision that puts local people first and seeks a sustainable future for North Staffordshire.

Sign today and help ensure Chatterley Valley delivers homes, communities and opportunities for generations to come.
