HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR PAKISTAN 34-36 Lowndes Square London SW1X 9JN UK
Dear High Commissioner,
We would like to draw your attention that there are so many issues that are faced by the people of AJK region.
One of the burning issue is, that there is no National or International Airport in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. Therefore people have to travel from Mirpur and surrounding areas to Islamabad, Peshawar, Sialkot and Lahore. This is not convenient for families.
The long journeys and travelling at night to the Airport through different provinces dangerous/blind spots zigzag mountain roads causes accidents and robberies.
Numbers of families been robbed while they traveled to the Pakistan airports during the day night. Therefore, we strongly request an Airport to be built in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir.
We strongly believe this will shorten long travel times and also will be convenient for Overseas Kashmiri people.
We would like to draw your attention that British Kashmiris also demand for the completion of Rathoa Haryam Bridge in Mirpur. This is causing widespread concern amongst the citizens of Mirpur, Kotli and also the diaspora community in Britain. The purpose of the Bridge was to reduce the travelling distance between Mirpur and major towns situated on the periphery of Mangla lake by 21 km and travelling time by 25 minutes. The distance between the two district headquarters of Mirpur and Kotli would also have reduced by 20 percent. We, therefore, request you to kindly intervene in this matter emphatically to save a national project.
We would like to request you to forward our request to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Prime minister of AJK.
