We are a deeply-rooted badminton group that has been using the Baildon Recreation Centre for the past 30 years, holding our meetings every Tuesday and Thursday morning. However, with the increasing closure of public buildings, our fear is that it will become increasingly difficult for our group, as well as the local and wider community, to find a suitable venue for activities. Bradford City Council has a meeting scheduled for 3rd December to discuss the proposed closure of the Centre April 2025. This Centre is crucial as it caters to a number of sporting activities, actively serving both the local community and beyond. The loss of such valuable public space stymies community growth and promotes isolation rather than unity. We firmly believe in the impact that local and cost-effective sporting facilities have in promoting health, happiness and community spirit. We implore that the City Council recalibrate their considerations and keep the Baildon Recreation Centre open.
