Plans to knock down the Broadway and build student flats have been confirmed and we don’t have long to save our beloved pub!

The Broadway Bar has been more than just a place to grab a drink; it has been a second home to countless individuals. For many locals and students alike, the Broadway has served as a central hub, fostering a sense of community and belonging. It has been a place where friendships were forged, laughter was shared, and memories were made. And on a personal note it is my where I live in the flat upstairs with my 2 children.

Beyond its personal significance, the Broadway Bar plays a vital role in the local economy. It employs numerous individuals from the area providing stable jobs and supporting students and families financially. The closure of the Broadway would not only mean the loss of an iconic venue but would also lead to unemployment for many of its loyal staff members.

Furthermore, the Broadway Bar truly embodies the spirit of Portswood, sport, cocktails and memories.


It is vital that we take a stand to protect such invaluable community spaces from closure. We must present our plea to local authorities to find a solution that ensures the Broadway remains open and continues to thrive.
