This petition arises from a personal revelation and common concern shared by numerous pensioners, including myself. Many of us have lost much-needed resources such as winter allowances due to governmental budget cuts. Yet, it stings to see that the same politicians who argue these painful cuts are necessary, do not hesitate to gift themselves photographers on the taxpayers’ dime to improve their personal image. This is not only an abuse of public funds, but it also undermines the notion of transparency that they claim to uphold.

Given this situation, we find it necessary to enact legislation to prevent politicians from squandering public money on personal vanity projects, like hiring photographers. In 2019 alone, according to OpenSecrets.org, over $100,000 of public funds was spent by politicians on image promotion activities. This does not include undisclosed or improperly documented expenditures.

Our demand is simple; funds entrusted to politicians by the public should be used for the public good, not personal vanity.
