OPEN LETTER to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr
Re: Human Trafficking Activities of
Ambassador-at-Large Jose “Joey” Eduardo Barata Antonio

Dear Mr. President,

Greetings!

Sir, last January 30, I sent you an Open Letter (copy attached) urging that you investigate the worldwide human trafficking of Filipino Migrant Workers by your appointed Ambassador Jose “Joey” Eduardo Barata Antonio (Ambassador JEBA) DBA Century Properties and owner of the Trump Tower Philippines.

My Open Letter was forwarded by your Presidential Complaint Center office to the Department of Justice for “appropriate action” (Code# PCC-CAM-01-31-2023-106)

The Department of Justice responded that it “does not provide legal representation to any party for any civil, criminal or administrative controversy”

Sir, I am requesting for investigation of the human trafficking activities of Ambassador JEBA, an official you provided with diplomatic immunity.

Ambassador JEBA’s scheme is similar to the human trafficking of Filipino workers deployed to Cambodia and Myamar reported by Senator Risa Hontiveros that according to the Department of Foreign Affairs, deployment not processed through the POEA government agency and using tourist instead of working visas are considered human trafficking activities.

Additionally, large scale deployments are considered economic sabotage and are non bailable offense for the traffickers.

Mr. President, I provided your office with an abundance of detailed information and names about Ambassador JEBA’s wage theft, visa violations, money laundering,  complaints from condo buyers about problematic property titles transfer, making agents submit postdated checks that will be used against them if they are not able to meet sales quota or used to intimidate them from filing labor complaints, providing agents with false job, salary, bank savings account certification, bogus Guarantee letters, bogus hotel bookings, illegal processing of credit card transactions, briefing them to lie to the immigration officers about the purpose of their visits which if caught exposes them to arrests, imprisonment and deportation.

Ambassador JEBA should also be investigated if he’s paying the proper amount of taxes to the Philippine government for the sales of his condos overseas.

Now, if the Department of Justice truly, “does not provide legal representation to any party” why did they file the trumped up criminal charge against “David”, one of the trafficking victim of Ambassador JEBA. Also, what’s the rush to archive this case before the six month waiting period after it was filed?

Pending for resolution at the Department of Justice is another criminal libel complaint with threats of arrest and extradition against “David” that was filed by the Sarmiento Loriega Law office of Atty. Maria Elizabeth Loriega and Atty. Isabelita Sales, lawyers of Ambassador JEBA.

This selective administration of justice is nothing but an abuse of the legal process and weaponizing the law by the Department of Justice, since they allowed themselves to be a party in harassing and intimidating “David”, the whistleblower to Ambassador JEBA’s illegal activities.

As for you, Mr. President with due respect, your inaction, Sir, to my request for investigation is not acceptable given the seriousness of Ambassador JEBA’s large scale worldwide human trafficking activities. Undeniably, it is the duty of the government to protect its citizens from harm and exploitation, especially the migrant workers, the backbone of the Philippine economy.

Therefore, I decided to celebrate my 74th birthday this month by conducting an awareness campaign to bring this matter to the attention of the international community including the United Nations and  the unsuspecting countries like USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Japan,Thailand, Middle East, etc.

Shining a light on Ambassador JEBA’s activities will also be a litmus test on how serious his business partners are like Mitsubishi in their anti human trafficking advocacy. Paris Hilton, Ruffa Gutierrez, Piolo Pascual, Pia Wurtzbach, etc will all be similarly judged  not by their words of endorsement, but by their actions, should they decide to be enablers.

Sir, I will leave no stones unturned in stopping Ambassador JEBA from trafficking his unlicensed real estate agents to sell worldwide his Century Properties condominiums.
