As you certainly must be aware, a good way to reduce the budget deficit is to eliminate pork barrel spending.  The current defense spending bill, which is larger than the $ 500. billion approved by Congress last year, is full of earmarks that protect defense contractors and reward campaign donors.  Most of these expenditures are for items the Defense Department does not want.  It's time for President Obama to make good on his vow to the Veterans of Foreign Wars that, "if Congress sends me a defense bill loaded with a bunch of pork, I will veto it."
