Federal investigation of Vallejo California police department

Federal investigation of Vallejo California police department
The Issue
Vallejo California is a very diverse Bay area town. It's demographics consist of 32.9% Caucasian American, 22.1% African American and 45% of every other race and ethnicity. In a town so diverse, why is 70% of the police force Caucasian American? Vallejo has been overshadowed with racial tension for decades; not among the community, but between the residents and the police. Vallejo police department has had numerous complaints, unjustified murders, police brutality, corruption, racist behavior and patterns, harassment and constant violations of constitutional rights. Listed below are some facts and incidents that are major causes of concern:
- In 2012 Vallejo police department accounted for over 33.3% of the cities total homicides. Out of the 20 murders, Vallejo police department was responsible for 6 of them.
- In 2012, Vallejo’s homicide rate was 38 times the national average.
- Vallejo police officers do not write their own police reports. Their reports are outsourced to a company in Tennessee (who owns this company and is this normal protocol?)
- Officer Sean Kenney is involved in multiple lawsuits and complaints. He's murdered three people in five months.
- Officer Kenney wasn't fired - he was promoted to Detective. He has been transferred from Napa to Vallejo and is now working for the Haward police department. This seems to happen whenever he does something unjustified and wrong like murder.
- Vallejo police officers fired thirty-three shots into a parked car. One person was hit thirty times. This person of course died. He was murdered.
There is no statue of limitation on murder. Although these officers were deemed justified by their own District Attorney, he should also be investigated along with the Vallejo police department for their crimes against the community. I am pleading with you to sign this petition, especially if an officer of the Vallejo police department has violated the constitutional rights of either you or someone you know. We are requesting a federal investigation of the Vallejo police department, retraining of their officers and a mandatory use of body cameras for all officers while on duty. Thank you for being a part of the solution and standing up for your constitutional rights. There is no reason any community should have to live in fear of the officers they pay to serve and protect them. Every signature counts, so please share it with your family and friends.
