Dear President Biden,

This Petition is written to request that Tommy Chong be granted a full Presidential Pardon.  We believe this to be fair, as first the nature of the offense was neither violent nor the cause of any harm to any person or place. 

Second, in 2003 during the raid, and subsequent prosecution, for something he essentially didn’t do. Tom threw himself on the sword for many people producing glass during this time period. This was done primarily to make an example of Chong.

For years he used his characters “Cheech and Chong.” to poke fun at authority, and make jokes about cannabis use. Because these films made the legal system uncomfortable, they decided to make him a primary target and example. In their minds his film character blurred the lines between a character he played, and the real Tommy Chong.

Upon reviewing his case, and the operation, you will see that clearly he was in entrapped, and pursued relentlessly. This went on during a period when unfettered persecution took place of those individuals who sought to give adults the choice of whether they wanted to use hemp products on a voluntary basis, either for medical purposes, or recreationally. It’s been along time since 2003 and now cannabis use is permissible (either recreationally or medically) in 47 states and decriminalized in most of the remainder. 

This petition is a gentle reminder that Tommy never sold cannabis products, he was no dealer, kingpin or mule. He only sold pieces of glass, produced simply for consumption. During the ops he had agents in hold up in a hotel room, they hounded the company weekly over the phone, and even in person to get them to send the paraphernalia across state lines. These agents physically went into his business to make this ridiculous ruse seem even larger, pretending to be a legitimate and needy glass shop. Tommy Chongs’ plea bargain protected his family and everyone else involved, he fell on the proverbial sword for the entire industry, what the DEA did was extreme, and unwarrented.  

We respectfully request that Tommy Chong be granted a full Presidential Pardon and submit the signatures of the signees below who agree this to be a fair and just act on their behalf.
