JP Holistic Health Coach started this petition to President of the United States and

I am writing this petition to express my concern about how the medical conditions of people are increasing in numbers instead of decreasing, but we still using the same approach to address these issues. Obesity in our children is above 18.5 % from ages 2 to 19 years old, this means 1 in 6 children are obese (Center for Disease control and Prevention in 2019). The statistics for adults are not much different. In 1999 obesity in adults was 30.5 % and by 2018 -2019 was 42.4 % with the most affected ones being in lowest socio-economic status. This means 1 out of 3 U.S. adult is obese. With these statistics it is not a surprise health related issues have increased throughout the years such as Diabetes, Cardio Vascular diseases and some cancers, all of which are among the leading causes of death. Obesity related medical conditions costs could rise by $48 to $66 billion per year by 2030 (Harvard, 2020). However, thousands of medications and health programs are created to address these issues but with no major results.

During childhood is when children develop their health habits, and in this stage of life our genetic and the relationship with food is so important. In my experience working in many nonprofits organizations where food has been provided to the children by Institutions regulated by the state has failed to provide the necessary nutrients these children needed. Food changes our genetic; consequently, our health, so we are what we have in our plate. We tend to overlook this vital part of our children's health, and yet we do not know why at early ages they develop so many health conditions. Adding to all this, I have to say that our country is our "home" and the governments our "parents", and as parents their priorities should be the health and wellness of their "children" (citizens).

We live in a society bombarded with many types of temporary cures that act like band-aids for different health problems, but no one seems to realize that we must do more than that. We need to make important and consistent healthy changes in our general lifestyle to see different results with all chronic diseases. Our government must prioritize the health of its people and implement different ways to do so, since what has been done already is no longer proving to be efficient.

Food is crucial and one of the most important components of our health, and only people who have the power to make the necessary changes with the products we consume could have prevented the loss of many people due to illnesses that could have improved with simple changes in their lifestyle. Medical conditions that become chronic because we use and create more drugs that do not help. If that weren't the case, there wouldn't be so many statistics to prove it.

People who is more economically stable and has the knowledge to provide their family better quality nutritional whole and organic food will have a better chance to improve their health or keep it in a better condition. But what happen to those who are not so fortunate or economically stable? For this reason, instead of paying pharmaceutical companies to create different kinds of medicine that will fix one thing temporarily, but will cause side effects and other problems, Why not instead our governments support our farmers and people who elaborates the food we consume to go organic? Why? Is it hard? Is not sustainable? Is it more sustainable that our environment is affected daily by all the smoke and pollution from factories, pharmaceuticals companies, agriculture and horticulture eliminate to produce the food we consume? These are the major questions I always ask myself! Currently, products like vegetables, fruits, chickens, cows, cereals, breads, flours, and all the food that is traditional produce has something on them, that we should not be eating. From pesticides, hormones, sugar, artificial flavors, trans fats, and additives like sodium nitrite that is used to preserve food; things that will gradually cause or contribute to harmful diseases like cancer. These are some of the stuff we consume daily in different forms in our food, yet most people do not even have an idea about it. We must create more sustainable ways of eating that will better impact our health, atmosphere, land, water and economy, so we can do our rightful part to re-establish the stability of our planet.

The way we traditionally raise animals for consumption (non-organic pasture forage) costs droughts and the degradation of huge fields of land on our planet. Many countries that lead the export of meat for consumption have a high rate of poverty and poor nutrition inside its own country. Grains and water that could be used for their own communities, instead are used to raise animals, so they can sell these animals to other countries, but what happen to their own people? What is wrong in this picture? Many things are wrong. Raising these animals alone produces carbon monoxide into the environment, pollutes the water, degrades the soil, causes the deforestation of huge fields of land due to the cultivation of grains that these animals are going to eat. What is worse, is the way reproduction of these animals is done. Due to the enormous demand of these animals they must be injected with hormones and other substances that accelerate their growth, which could dangerously change our genetic and negatively impact our health.  Also, these procedures are not only used in animals; but also, it is used with our vegetables and other foods that we consume. These are some of the many examples of how we produce our main food sources.

Why do we keep doing things this way? Is it because we don't want to lose money? Is supplying the food demand faster this way to earn faster income? Or is it in general easier this way? Why do we need to do this when there are other organic ways to do it! People don't need a lot of animal products (a topic I won't touch on now). Protein can also come from vegetables, but if we are still going to consume animal protein or other food sources, we must make changes to the way we produce our food. Our health is compromised, everything we put into our body makes changes in it and impacts our overall well-being. Food is information, a great source of information (food) will generate great results and one that is not will have opposite results. We already spend so much money to find cures for ongoing diseases that affect our health without better results, when we can change a few simple things that can have a big impact on our health.

It is undeniable that we need a change, so I solemnly ask the legislators and the government of this country to ask themselves. What impact are we having on the health of our communities with the decisions we have made? Are the outcomes showing our expectations? What are the decisions you make on this issue in your own home? What is health all about? When you think of your fellow citizens, do you think they have access to the same quality of food as you do? You ask yourself, am I using the power and Influence I have to do the work that I promised to do? When I see people with preventable conditions, but their condition becomes chronic and we are still using treatments that don't work. Those things really make me feel like there's a big gap somewhere that no one wants to see, want to know about, or that it's convenient and easier to keep it that way it is. I really urge our government to make the necessary changes by prioritizing what is really necessary for the health of our communities.
