The United States embassy's role is to support US citizens. Since March 3, 2020, embassies have been closed to immigrant and nonimmigrant Visa applicants and they have not given any information regarding their reopening. Many US citizens have fiancee's waiting to undergo their K1 interview to get their necessary packet to exit their host country and join their fiancee in the US.

These people are separated. While we chose this life, subjecting K1 applicants to further separation is cruel and unusual. US citizens are afforded the right to life, liberty, AND the pursuit of happiness. Though happiness has been found overseas, US embassy policies are blocking access to that constitutional right.

In the US, people are undergoing naturalization ceremonies while in their cars, in a drive thru. Therefore, COVID19 is not a valid excuse to remain closed to fiancees- figure out a way around it to serve the us citizens and your constituents. If bars and restaurants are open despite covid, open your embassies to applicants. Furthermore, K1 visas are NOT forbidden in the language of the recent executive order that prevents those coming to the US to work- a K1 holder CANNOT work until their status adjustment.

Stop the needless and heartless separation. Figure out a work-around...scan documents, interview via video chat, etc.. our country was built on the back of exceptional innovation, so let's innovate. Collectively, together, and reunite us with those we are so desperately missing.
