Tim Scott is a high-ranking American political figure, serving as United States Senator from South Carolina since 2013. He was initially appointed by Governor Nikki Haley and won a special election in 2014 to complete the term. Later, Scott won re-election in 2016 and 2022. As a member of the Republican Party, he is known as the first African-American senator from South Carolina. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Scott served in the United States House of Representatives for South Carolina's 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2013, and as a member of the Charleston County Council from 1995 to 2008. He is recognized for his conservative stance on fiscal and social issues.
