I have seen an increase in rental prices in last few months. Rents used to be more affordable, accessable, and reachable. In 2022, rents for a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment or single family home are as high as $2000-$3500. I am concerned for the elderly that live of their retirement checks, how will they be able to afford something like that. As a resident of Miami Dade my whole life, I think something should be done to stop this right now. 

My family has now been impacted by having to look for a place due to a non renewal of our lease. Many landlords are asking for at least 3-4 months worth of rent to just move in. One more thing if you don't make 3 times the rent, they won't even consider your application. Not to mention that not everyone makes more than $20 per hour at their job. How are we going to live here?

For our community we need to stop this before everyone that cannot afford these sky high prices end up leaving to another county, or even state.
