Clemency Consideration for Malu Motta

The Issue

Aloha!

As family, friends, and loved ones of Ethan Malu Motta, we come forward to humbly ask the people of Hawaii and everywhere to join us in our effort to petition President Obama for clemency consideration.

Malu’s years of incarceration has been difficult yet transformational.  He acknowledges his past mistakes and has made positive changes in his life.  He desires to move forward by using his abilities and talents to make positive changes in our Hawaiian community.  He has begun to do so within the system he currently resides through: acts of heroism by saving other’s lives, assisting to deescalate potentially dangerous situations, serving as a positive role model to others in similar circumstances, as well as helping others gain their second chance at freedom.

We look to you, the people of Hawaii - the people of Aloha, to support our brother, father, and, son in his plight for a second chance to apply his God given leadership and talents for positive change in our community and for our people.  He also yearns and looks forward to reuniting with his four beautiful children, his mother, siblings, and extended family.  None of us are perfect, yet, when given a second chance, many of us prove our worth.  More importantly, we make positive changes that extend far beyond our own lives.  We know that Malu can and will do the same when afforded this opportunity.

It is our hope that the outpouring of support will compel the powers that be to consider our plea and we pray that the combined efforts and collective voices of all involved will ultimately be heard by our beloved President and be given just and proper consideration by members of the reviewing commission.

We respectfully request that you join us in signing the following petition on behalf of our dear brother, father, and son, Ethan Malu Motta.

We thank you for your consideration and time and look forward to a positive outcome.   Mahalo Nui Loa!
