Bestow upon Jared Leto the Medal Of Freedom
The Issue
We are the Jared Leto Deserves it Society on Facebook. We are over 2500 strong. We are Echelon and we believe in what Jared Leto does and we think he should be rewarded for his efforts. It would be wonderful to see the Actor/Musician/Director/Humanitarian recognized in his own country of the United States Of America.
The Presidential Medal Of Freedom recognizes those individuals who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".
Jared Joseph Leto born December 26, 1971 is an American Singer/Oscar-Winning Actor/Director/Social Media Guru/Entrepeneur/Humanitarian/Patriot. He is the front man for the band 30 Seconds To Mars.
Leto attended the Amnesty International campaign to support human rights, marking the 60th anniversary of the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He supports the The Art of Elysium, which encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions.
The Leto-directed music video of "A Beautiful Lie" was the first one ever to be shot 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Greenland. Determined to offset the impact that filming would have on the environment, Leto and the band worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council to develop strategies that would minimize fuel consumption on the shoot and purchased North American Blend Green Tags (a renewable energy certificate product) from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. 30 Seconds to Mars also launched a beautiful lie.org, which includes information about current environmental issues, ways to participate in environmental activities and more.
June 2008, Leto and his bandmates joined Habitat for Humanity to work on a home being repaired and renovated through the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Area's "A Brush With Kindness" program. In advance of the build, the band organized an auction of "build slots" to give fans the opportunity to volunteer alongside them and their family and friends. In less than a week, six extra workers were enlisted and over $10,000 was raised to fund additional Habitat for Humanity projects. Leto also supported Habitat for Humanity Malaysia in Sentul in August 2008
In 2008, he supported the Proposition 2 and attended the Yes! On Prop 2 benefit gala to stop animal cruelty held in Los Angeles, California. In July 2010, he supported WWF's Text For Tigers charity campaign to aid in saving wild tigers from extinction.
After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Leto and his bandmates raised $100,100 for Haitian relief. The charity auction included concert tickets, an exclusive backstage meet and greet, and dinner with the band. 30 Seconds to Mars has also supported the people of Haiti through the Echelon Project "House for Haiti" and the Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief. Leto released a book of photographs taken during his trip to Haiti in 2011, in a bid to raise funds for the earthquake-ravaged country.
He has connected with and helped various organizations since arriving in Haiti, including Sean Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization.
30 Seconds to Mars donated items to a Red Cross auction to assist people affected by the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
The wonderful work he does for A Beautiful Lie Org, AIDS, Cancer, Children, Creative Arts, Health, Unemployment/Career Support.
Leto donated an item to watchmaker Nixon to be made into a watch, the sale of which benefitted the MusiCares MAP Fund—a pool of resources set aside to address addiction and recovery needs of members of the music community.
His fan base the Echelon are currently building a water well in Africa.
He cares so much for the animals that he is a Vegan. He cannot stand to see an animal harmed, eaten or endangered
His song VOX POPULI was used in a Recruitment film and at the Soldier Show of the U.S. Army. The morale was lifted because of the songs music and lyrics. His album This Is War was a testament to the band's struggles stated in Leto's Documentary film Artifact.
Leto was a strong supporter of the Obama ReElection campaign and the platform in which he stands on Democratic ideals.
The politically-aware Jared Leto hosted a party for Obama on June 29th, Jared Leto hosted the official under-40 fundraiser program for Obama for America- created to cultivate and empower a rising generation of leaders for the Democratic Party.
"The official under-40 fundraising program of Obama for America—created to cultivate and empower a rising generation of leaders for the Democratic Party."
already raised millions for his campaign.
Leto encourages those of voting age to register and vote in their states. In January 2014 he reported for Jury Duty and the next day received an Academy Award Nomination for his role of Rayon a Transgender woman in the 80's with AIDS. In preparation for the role he spent time with AIDS patients.
He is supporting the RED campaign against AIDS currently. Recently he visited the AIDS stricken children of Mercy Centre in Thailand.
He also visited the memorial of the protesters that were lost in Independence Square in the Ukraine. His band Thirty Seconds To Mars played a show there despite possible danger. Leto was praised by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenuk. Jared Leto solved the recent crisis that had risked bursting into open war between Russia and the beleaguered Eastern European country. It is understood that the deal brokered by Leto will see Russia withdraw its troops and recognize the legitimacy of the new government in return for 30 Seconds to Mars not playing in Moscow. The Requiem for a Dream actor has now been contacted by the UN to help out in other trouble spots in the world and which will see a world tour of 30 Seconds to Mars playing in such places as the Occupied West Bank, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the DMZ between North and South Korea.
He has supported great charities such as Aids Still Required, a 501C3 non-profit corporation founded to champion forgotten issues and people left behind after natural disasters and other crises. Leto has also supported the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, one of the largest Diabetes programs specializing in Type 1 Diabetes research and care (children and adults) all over the world.
Jared Leto's Worldwide Charitable Works have gone unnoticed for years.
