Allow children to repeat each grade until mastered / passed regardless of age by graduation. Especially in cases of medical conditions such as Autism spectrum. Right now kids are only allowed to repeat once or twice through all grades in most places then just pushed ahead so not to be too old at graduation or too much older than classmates. Only other option is special ed which for my son would be a 2 hour bus ride to then 2 hrs back from a facility that is not working towards his diploma. I believe many kids may be slower then average at mastering skills but most are capable of getting normal diplomas if given time to master every single grade before moving to the next grade no matter if it takes them longer. My son is on the Autism spectrum and is great in most subjects but his difficulty in reading and writing effects how well he can do any subject because he needs to read instructions. I am just giving examples from my personal experience. Every child is different. Every child learns different. Every child deserves a good education that suits thier needs. We can do better then our current system. No kid left behind turned into shove all kids forward it seems. Lets correct this so my son and others don't have to start the next grade already behind. Shoving kids forward because they were held back already just causes a snowball of being behind. How can they get good grades if they didn't master knowledge needed to understand it yet. It's pretty much giving them no chance to catch up and maintain learning at thier level. Children would ultimately learn more in the end if we took the time they needed not the time we needed them to take. Please help change this very soon.
