Our increasingly warm, weird, wild weather is a sign of trouble ahead. With 98 percent of peer-reviewed scientists saying that we need to make a rapid transition away from fossil fuels in order to preserve a livable future for ourselves and our children, it's beyond the time when President Obama should be a leader and speak up about climate change!
Hurricane Sandy is just the beginning of what climate change will bring! We need a "State of the Climate" address from President Obama, the leader of the free world, to clear up American confusion on this issue. Our need to fight rapid, man-made climate change is not a liberal "issue," any more than respecting the law of gravity is a liberal issue.
In addition to signing this petition, please call the White House Comment Line, 9-5 Eastern Standard Time, M-F, at 202-456-1111. Tell President Obama's volunteer operators that you want the President to act now to prevent further worsening of climate change. If you'd rather send a written note to Obama (24x7), go to www.whitehouse.gov and click on the "Contact Us' button in the upper right corner of the page to open a comment page for your written comment. Again, ask for action on climate, including a "State of the Climate" address.
P.S. Please tell your friends to do this too!!
Dear President Obama,
Our increasingly weird, wild weather is exactly what has been predicted by climate scientists. It is a sign of increasingly serious trouble ahead unless we act now. We need your Lincoln-like leadership on this issue.
With ~ 98% of peer-reviewed scientists saying that we need to rapidly transition away from fossil fuels in order to preserve a livable future for our children, it's beyond the time when we should hear more from you about your plans.
Please speak up about climate change, now, Mr President. People need to know where we're headed in order to make intelligent choices about our future. It's time for you to give a "State of the Climate" address to inform misinformed Americans that rapid, man-made, climate change is here, it is real, it is serious, and we need to act now to curtail its impacts.
