National Council of Corvette Clubs, please hire an outside firm to audit your books

The Issue

Dear National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC):

Please hire an OUTSIDE auditing firm to perform an audit of the NCCC Charity efforts. When we say outside, we mean, a firm that does not have any NCCC members as part of it.

Your meeting minutes indicate many of the audits were internal audits done by NCCC. This does not seem ethical and the chance for abuse is huge.

You state that over $500,000 has been given to charity in the last 9 years on your website ( https://www.corvettesnccc.org/charity_programhistory.pdf ). Specifically, it is stated "Proceeds from the raffle in the last nine years have netted a donation of greater than $500,000 to the National Kidney Foundation."

This number seems really large given that the tax returns state $25 was given in 2016, $1,246 was given in 2017, and $0.00 was given in 2013 - 2015. The returns do not state which charity received the money in 2016 and 2017.

Since you have not yet posted the tax returns (required by law) we feel an audit from an outside auditing firm is in order. The existing petition that is asking you to follow the law and post your tax returns is at https://www.change.org/p/nccc-president-national-council-of-corvette-clubs-please-follow-the-law-and-post-your-tax-returns-ce979e39-457f-441e-a9e8-09f226c9e0b4

Please make sure the auditing firm is aware of the IRS Form 1023 which was filed when the charity corporation was created. Specifically the section 1E (Part II) which states "Distributing funds raised as soon as all expenses associated with the raffle have been paid"

If the audit determines that $500,000 has not been paid we request you cut a check to the charity to make up the difference.

This seems only right since you have been advertising $500,000 has been donated to charity. If you are not willing to do this then please explain why you state you give so much to charity but are not willing to prove it.

We also request you state that this audit is being done and post the results on the NCCC website ( https://www.corvettesnccc.org )
