Preserve the traditional CFL field dimensions

Preserve the traditional CFL field dimensions
The Issue
Growing up, memories of sitting on my grandfather’s knee and watching the Canadian Football League (CFL) unfold have shaped my love for the game. From its unique field dimensions to the characteristic placement of the goal posts, every aspect of the CFL is cherished by its dedicated fans like myself. We have been through years of heartbreak and euphoria, following this league as passionately as any fan could.
Recently, the changes proposed to the beloved CFL field dimensions and end zones have stirred great concern within the fan community. The alteration of the field length and adjustments to the end zones compromise the integrity and uniqueness of a game that we hold dear. The very essence of what makes CFL thrilling and different from other football leagues is at risk. The league's history and legacy should be preserved, not altered.
The decision to modify these dimensions overlooked some innovative solutions that could resolve the concerns over obstruction without disrupting the game's classic style. One suggestion is to consider installing the field goal posts underground. By employing a hydraulic system, the posts could remain concealed during gameplay, then raised when necessary for field goal attempts. This would ensure player safety while maintaining the iconic nature of our fields.
These changes may have been proposed with good intentions, but they encroach upon traditions that CFL fans have cherished for decades. By pursuing alternative methods like the proposed hydraulic goal posts, the league can address safety issues without sacrificing the spirit and heritage of the game we love.
Our voices as the fans—those who have stood by this league through all its ups and downs—must be heard. Encourage the CFL to reconsider its recent changes by exploring innovative solutions that respect tradition.
Sign this petition to urge the CFL to preserve the traditional field elements that define our beloved game.
