Preserve the Richard Keane mural in Skerries
The Issue
I’m Sinéad and I live in Skerries. Living in Skerries is a source of pride for me and the people who live here with its vibrant community and unique charm. Among many of our many treasures is the mural of Richard Keane displayed on the Bus Bar. This piece of art, cherished by both locals and visitors, gives character and serves as a symbol of creativity and community spirit in our town.
However, I am deeply concerned to learn that the Keane family have had to apply to Fingal County Council for retention of the mural as FCC are considering removing this impressive piece of work as part of a larger application.
The Keane family are a local family with a thriving business which was nearly wiped out by a fire in late 2023. They have worked very hard to scramble and get back on their feet quickly and ensure a thriving amenity and business is kept in Skerries. The mural forms part of a larger planning retention application.
*It is important to state that people are entitled to make an observation to a planning application without implication to their personal safety.
Please join me in urging FCC to grant retention permission for this premises and keep the Richard Keane mural in place. Sign this petition to help preserve an important piece of Skerries’ character and share with your family, friends and the wider community for signature.
