As a proud resident of Southbank, VIC and a passionate advocate for Victorian heritage, I am deeply concerned about the future of our beloved Robur Tea House. This iconic structure is not just a building; it is an integral part of our community's history and identity.

The Robur Tea House has stood as a testament to our past for over 100 years. It represents an era of revolutionary design and engineering for that time.The building is of technical scientific significance because of the various innovative techniques which were used to construct the building.  The foundations of this building for its time were innovative, and the fact that this building has stood the test of time (over 135 years), is evidence that the architect and engineer John Grainger was revolutionary for his time. And it has been noted that there are NO other comparable buildings which existed until after WWI. 

However, this precious piece of history is under threat due to council greed and developers wanting to over crowd our beautiful city. Without immediate action from Heritage Victoria and community members alike, we risk losing this invaluable asset forever.

We must remember that preserving historical sites like the Robur Tea House isn't merely about maintaining old buildings—it's about respecting our roots and ensuring future generations can learn from them. According to Heritage Victoria (2018), preserving historic buildings contributes significantly to education by providing tangible links to past eras.

Therefore, we urge local authorities in Southbank VIC to prioritize the preservation efforts for Robur Tea House immediately. Let us not allow another piece of our rich history be erased due to negligence or oversight.
