A decade ago, a dedicated farmer and beloved friend started a unique venture. Nurturing the land from barren to bountiful, they solemnly worked to provide a tempting mix of rare fruits unavailable elsewhere in the community. Today, this farm stands as a testament to their effort, passion, and love for agriculture, and it is the precious source of those unique fruits that bind our community.

Unfortunately, this agricultural jewel is now under a severe threat. The city, with alternatives available, plans to encroach upon this farmland. We point out that there exist two other viable options that the city can pursue without displacing an integral part of our community heritage.

The farm not only supports local biodiversity by growing rare fruit varieties, but it also boosts our local economy. Based on USDA data, small farms like this contribute significantly to the support of rural economies (USDA, 2018). Consuming locally sourced fruits also echoes our community's commitment to sustainability.
