                             The Big Disconnect at BYU-Hawaii

On July 28, 2023, the above was posted by the BYU-Hawaii President. HOWEVER, this is the same BYU-Hawaii Administration who will destroy the historic McKay Mosaic in Laie. The McKay Mosaic will be demolished but four tiny portions of the Mosaic will be "significantly preserved." The rest of the mosaic mural that offend the Sovereignty Extremists will disappear.

Unfortunately, according to the mindset of the BYU-Hawaii Administration,   "sacred and historically significant sites connected to the church" does not apply to its own historic David O. McKay Mosaic in Laie.

Sovereignty Extremism is promoted on campus. Inside campus sources of efforts to marginalize the "offensive" McKay Mosaic is becoming more alarming.

Inside campus sources report of substantial efforts to alleviate the current President's roots through Kaleohano, one of many Hawaiian converts in the early church history of Laie. The BYU-Hawaii President often quoted his personal heritage in BYU-Hawaii's Press Releases and meetings.

Campus sources reveal that the university's documentary of Kaleohano, including his grave site behind the Laie Temple is in the works.

Respect and admiration to early converts, including Kaheohano, throughout the world is due. The new President enjoys a wonderful personal family history indeed.

But, the foundational legacy of the David O. McKay Mosaic is the sacred church history for BYU-Hawaii and beyond. This is the only historic site left on the BYU-Hawaii campus.  The McKay Mosaic is one of the "sacred and historically significant sites connected to the church".

Current efforts by BYU-Hawaii Sovereignty Extremists to remove the McKay Mosaic and to marginalize President McKay's legacy while propelling their personal family histories must be investigated and re-examined.

DO YOU PART. SEND YOUR CONCERNS TO PRESIDENT NELSON TO INVESTIGATE AND RECONSIDER THE REMOVAL OF THE MCKAY MOSAIC.
