Preserve Jimmy Buffett's Plane, "The Hemisphere Dancer," in City Walk Orlando

The Issue

My journey with Jimmy Buffett's plane, "The Hemisphere Dancer," began during my numerous visits to City Walk Orlando over the years. This spot has been more than a mere tourist attraction to me; it's a communion with the spirit of Jimmy Buffett himself, who recently passed away. For Parrotheads like me, it serves as a pilgrimage site, a place to remember and honor Jimmy's legacy.

"The Hemisphere Dancer" plane is not just an aircraft; it's a symbol of Jimmy's adventurous life and his dedication to his art. It was famously shot at by Jamaican police in 1996, when they mistook it for a drug trafficker's plane. This incident not only inspired Jimmy's song, "Jamaica Mistaica," but also cemented the plane's status as an iconic piece of pop culture history.

However, Universal Studios plans to displace the plane, which could disrupt the unique connection that thousands of fans experience in its current location. Up to this day, City Walk Orlando has hosted countless Jimmy Buffett fans, celebrating and remembering his life and music. If moved, this plane's historical and cultural value might fade away.

We must preserve this symbol of Jimmy Buffett's legacy where it is. By signing this petition, we are urging Universal Studios to retain Jimmy's plane, "The Hemisphere Dancer," at its original location. Let's honor Jimmy's memory and the magic his music has brought into our lives. We need your support. Please sign this petition.
