Preserve DACA While keeping families together
Preserve DACA While keeping families together
The Issue
I share this story as a DACA recipient myself, deeply immersed in the anxiety and fear that the rolling back of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program brings. Risks of Deportation from The place we now call home, the United States, it is reminding us that we aren’t counted as its residents even after having built lives here. The repeal of DACA could lead to the ruthless separation of countless families - an act against human dignity and universal family values.
As per a 2020 US Citizenship and Immigration Services report, there were approximately 640,000 active DACA recipients (Source: USCIS). This policy has helped hardworking young immigrants gain access to job opportunities, higher education, and a chance at the American dream - essentially contributing to the country that has become our home.
DACA is not just an immigration policy but a beacon of hope for all of us. Its repeal can lead to potential upheaval in the lives of hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients, impacting the American economy, and threatening the unity of families.
Therefore, we urge you not only to preserve DACA but also champion its cause, ensuring it remains a robust, effective policy that supports childhood arrivals and our families. Your support can keep families together, preserve the dreams of youth, and uphold the true spirit of America. It's time to stand up and voice our support for DACA and the protection of childhood arrivals from family separation. Let us know that we belong. Please, sign this petition today.
