Preserve DACA Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

Preserve DACA Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
The Issue
I came to the United States when I was 10 years old and Months after my Mother passed away in the United States I grew up with my older siblings I never met my father and I'm one of the more than 500,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals known as Dreamers (DACA) recipients currently residing in the United States. Our diverse, vibrant group includes people from all walks of life, yet we're united by stories of resilience, dreams, and unwavering patriotism for a country we call home. The threat of DACA being rolled back is real and terrifying, and it threatens to uproot our lives and contributions to the society.
As members of the DACA program, we contribute significantly to American society. We form part of a vibrant, diverse workforce across a variety of industries, including education, healthcare, and technology. According to a study conducted by the Center for American Progress (2020), 93% of DACA recipients over the age of 25 are employed. That equates to hundreds of thousands of jobs potentially lost. The same study shows that DACA recipients and DACA-eligible individuals contribute approximately $2 billion annually in state and local taxes, demonstrating our commitment to bettering the country we love.
We, therefore, urge the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to acknowledge our contributions and reconsider the potential rollback of DACA, which would cause significant harm to us, our families, and the communities that have embraced us. Please preserve DACA, uphold our dreams, and protect the future of this great nation we proudly contribute to and call home. We appeal for your empathy, understanding, and reconstruction. Please sign this petition to lend us your support.
