It has been 14 months and 22 days since The Archdiocese of Chicago closed St. Thaddeus Parish.
It is not uncommon for people who have lost a limb to begin to feel Phantom Limb Pain after 6 months. The St. Thaddeus Church Family had been experiencing the pain of losing their church home.
After the loss of a limb, one can experience Phantom Limb Pain. It can be in the form of pain and the feeling of the sense of the missing limb (i.e. movement). Everyone does not experience Phantom Limb Pain in the same manner.
Just as in Phantom Limb Pain, members are not experiencing the loss of St. Thaddeus the same way.
For some:
• They feel that “something is wrong”. How could a parish that did everything requested by the Archdiocese be closed?
• Their pain is intensified as they attend church. Their loss is even more deeply felt.
• Have been morally injured and left the Church.
Doctors don’t know the cause of Phantom Limb Pain, but the pain is real.
The loss of St. Thaddeus Church is real.
