Christina HordeChicago, IL, United States

5 Feb 2018
St. Thaddeus Church had a unique way of celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The day celebrating Dr. King, kicked off our Black History Month Celebration.
The members participated in many ways:
• Bulletin boards would be decorated with the theme of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement.
• Short skits on the history of African Americans were performed by members in the Mass.
• Praise Dancers and the Choir marked the month in their own expressive style.
St. Thaddeus Church was built in 1959. The church was built to serve African-American Catholics, during a time when Blacks were not welcome.
St. Thaddeus Church is Black History!
