Back To Normal Info started this petition to PHILIPPINE NORMAL UNIVERSITY and

Foundation days mark the genesis of an institution and should be celebrated with sound historical basis. By tradition, PNU's supposed 'opening day' on September 1, 1901 has been celebrated as its 'foundation day'. Recent studies, however, show that the Normal has been in existence before September 1.

With historical and legal evidences supporting the September 1, 1901 tradition lacking, we believe that the legal basis of its existence which is Act No. 74 enacted on January 21, 1901 be considered as the day of its foundation. Moreover, other historical sources state that a preliminary term conducted by the Normal School was opened in April, 1901.

We believe that historical error has been committed in determining the institution's foundation day. As bearers of PNU's virtues, our foremost drive is to seek the truth as the basis of our traditions.

We, the concerned alumni, wish to request the PNU management to clarify and resolve the said issue by reviewing historical sources and consulting appropriate agencies.
