Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) caters the educational needs of the locals of Ilocos Norte. The University spent years to achieve and build it's legacy. During those years, as a university situated in the province, MMSU alumni experienced questions and phrases like, "Where is MMSU?" "I don't know that school." and "I'm not familiar with that University." (to name a few), while undergoing interviews for a certain job. Despite of those comments, MMSU continued to achieve it's goals, from producing fully equipped graduates, that are able to keep pace with others, to sending students and alumni abroad for competitions. Hence, by that, MMSU made it's name known not only in the country but even overseas. Changing the name will somehow make the alumni of the University be detached from their Alma Mater. Also, changing of University's logos, march, hymn will be done. Moreover, the renaming will drive the University again for years, to be known and to make a mark for it's new name in the country or abroad.
