Petition: VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE – Call for the Resignation of Leader Millie Earl and Chief Executive Aidan Dunn
We, the undersigned, call upon BCP Council Leader Millie Earl and Chief Executive Aidan Dunn to resign from their positions due to a continued failure to address serious concerns raised by residents, communities and local businesses across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
For too long, residents have raised concerns about the direction, leadership, transparency and performance of BCP Council. Many feel ignored, unheard and let down by those responsible for representing and serving them.
Despite repeated calls from residents for an open public meeting to discuss these concerns, both the Council Leader and Chief Executive have failed to provide this opportunity for direct engagement. This refusal to meet with residents has further damaged trust and confidence in the Council’s leadership.
Residents have also expressed deep concern that Council leadership has failed to properly support local businesses, many of which are struggling, leaving empty buildings and damaging the vitality of our town centres and local economy.
There are growing concerns regarding:
A failure to listen and respond to residents’ concerns.
A lack of openness, transparency and accountability.
Decisions that residents believe do not represent value for money.
The use of public funds on projects viewed by many as unnecessary or poorly prioritised.
Legal challenges and court losses that have cost taxpayers money.
Failure to work effectively with partners, communities and organisations on major issues including homelessness and public safety.
A lack of confidence in the Council’s ability to provide effective leadership.
Residents have also raised concerns regarding public statements, conduct and decision-making by Council leadership, including allegations of bias, dismissive attitudes towards residents’ concerns and behaviour that many believe falls below the standards expected of public office holders.
A council leader and chief executive must demonstrate accountability, fairness, transparency and a willingness to listen. Where public confidence has been lost, leadership must accept responsibility.
Therefore, we call upon:
BCP Council Leader Millie Earl and Chief Executive Aidan Dunn to resign from their positions immediately.
We call for new leadership that will:
Listen to residents and communities.
Support local businesses and the local economy.
Protect public safety.
Spend taxpayers’ money responsibly.
Restore transparency and trust.
Put Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole residents first.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole deserve leadership that represents the people, responds to their concerns and delivers the effective local government they rightly expect.
Enough is enough. We demand accountability, transparency and change.
We, the undersigned, support this petition and call for the resignation of Millie Earl and Aidan Dunn.
