PETITION TO SRC & DOS REGARDING VEP ISSUE (TAR UMT KL) DECISION-MAKERS:

PETITION TO SRC & DOS REGARDING VEP ISSUE (TAR UMT KL) DECISION-MAKERS:
The Issue
THE ISSUE
We, the students of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (Kuala Lumpur), formally petition SRC and DOS to address the ongoing mismanagement of Vehicle Entry Permits (VEP).
- Despite abundant campus parking, many students are unfairly denied permits, with distribution based on favoritism rather than genuine need or merit.
- Students are forced to resort to off‑campus parking, incurring extra costs and safety risks.
- SRC has systematically ignored complaints, eroding trust and fostering inequality.
This is unacceptable.
About the student centre parking rate:
- We also strongly reject the rumoured parking rates at the new Student Centre—these charges are unreasonable for students and must be reduced or waived entirely.
- The SRC must immediately push for a review of these rates and publicly advocate for more affordable parking options for all students.
OUR DEMANDS
- Full Transparency
- Publicly publish eligibility criteria and the reasons for every denied VEP application.
- Every denial must be accompanied by a clear written explanation.
- Fair and Expanded Allocation
- Issue more VEPs immediately, reflecting the ample parking supply.
- Prioritize genuinely needy students—commuters, those with academic or health-related hardships.
- Accountability Measures
- Conduct a public audit of recent VEP allocations.
- Maintain a student feedback platform to report misuse or unfairness and track resolutions.
- Official Response Required
- SRC/DOS must issue a public statement acknowledging this petition and outlining specific corrective actions.
- With no statement being released since July 04 2025, students have been executing class boycotts which is a huge problem.
