The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of the State of Connecticut, call upon the Governor, the Connecticut General Assembly, and local municipalities to remove all Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras from public roads throughout the state and prohibit future contracts with Flock Safety.

While public safety is important, it should not come at the expense of the privacy and constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. Flock cameras continuously collect and store information about the movements of ordinary drivers who are not suspected of any crime. Many Connecticut residents are concerned that this technology enables widespread surveillance, creates opportunities for misuse, and allows sensitive location data to be shared beyond the communities where it was collected. Recent debate in Connecticut has led some towns, including Windsor and Killingworth, to end their Flock Safety contracts over privacy concerns. (NBC Connecticut)

We respectfully ask Connecticut lawmakers and municipal leaders to:

● Remove all Flock Safety cameras currently installed on public roads.

● Prohibit state agencies and municipalities from entering into future contracts with Flock Safety.

● Protect the privacy and constitutional rights of Connecticut residents by limiting mass surveillance technologies.

● Ensure that any future public safety technology is subject to strong transparency, public oversight, and meaningful privacy protections.

Connecticut should remain committed to both public safety and civil liberties. We believe our communities can be kept safe without subjecting every resident to continuous automated tracking.

If you believe that privacy, accountability, and constitutional protections matter, please sign this petition and encourage others to do the same.
