Petition to Prioritise External Funding for Boeing Reserve Community & Sports Facility Hub

Petition to Prioritise External Funding for Boeing Reserve Community & Sports Facility Hub
The issue
We, the undersigned residents, families, players, volunteers and community members of Moonee Valley, call on Moonee Valley City Council to prioritise securing external funding for the redevelopment of the Boeing Reserve Community and Sports Facility Hub.
Once again, the Boeing Reserve Community and Sports Facility Hub has been excluded from Council’s four-year draft capital works budget and placed on the 10-year plan as “dependent on external funding.” While we understand funding pressures exist, this vital community asset cannot continue to be delayed.
Boeing Reserve is not just a sports ground — it is a year-round community hub serving hundreds of local families and volunteers. It is home to:
• Strathmore Heights Cricket Club
• Strathmore Heights Netball Club
• Strathmore Football Club
In addition, the reserve supports multiple community groups, junior development programs, women’s sport, school use, and social gatherings that strengthen neighbourhood connections.
The current facilities are no longer fit for purpose.
They are outdated, worn, and not equipped to meet modern standards for accessibility, inclusion, safety, or female participation. Change rooms, amenities, and shared spaces do not adequately support the growing number of women and girls participating in sport. Storage, social areas, and community spaces are limited and inadequate for the volume of users.
At a time when participation in local sport and community connection is more important than ever for physical health, mental wellbeing, and social cohesion, delaying this project sends the wrong message to local families.
Other major projects listed in Council’s 10-year pipeline — including stadium upgrades and redevelopment partnerships — are important. However, Boeing Reserve is a grassroots, community-driven facility that serves everyday residents across all age groups. It deserves equal priority in external funding advocacy.
We are asking Council to:
Publicly commit to actively pursuing and prioritising state and federal funding opportunities for Boeing Reserve.
Allocate dedicated advocacy resources to ensure this project is “shovel-ready” when grants become available.
Provide transparent timelines and regular updates to the community.
Recognise Boeing Reserve as a critical community infrastructure priority — not a project that can continue to be deferred.
Investment in Boeing Reserve is an investment in:
• Youth development
• Women’s sport
• Volunteerism
• Community health
• Social inclusion
• Local pride
Our community has grown. Participation has grown. Expectations for safe, inclusive facilities have grown.
Now our infrastructure must grow too.
We urge Council to act decisively and champion Boeing Reserve so that it receives the external funding it urgently requires.
Sign this petition to show your support for a modern, inclusive, and fit-for-purpose Boeing Reserve Community and Sports Facility Hub.
Our community deserves better.
Let’s make it happen.
