Driving along the Highway 115 is an absolute nightmare for turtles and other wildlife trying to cross. Over 1000 turtles have been admitted to the Ontario Turtle Trauma Centre this year (https://trib.al/X0E8aHa while I have counted 5 dead snapping turtles within a 5km stretch (in one month) of the Hwy 115. This is significant, because it takes over 20 years for some species of turtles to reach sexual maturity (ability to have babies). There are 8 species of turtles in Ontario and all 8 are listed on the Species at Risk act. Their biggest threat is road mortality.

A simple solution to helping various wildlife from the slaughterhouse that is the hwy 115 is to install wildlife barriers and potentially an underpass in areas known to be wildlife crossing areas. 

For my 26th birthday I started this petition so I can spearhead this initiative and hopefully bring about some protection. I will put in the appropriate research and get the petition to who needs to have it in their hands. Some examples that come to mind at the moment are the respective First Nations in the area (Hiawatha, Alderville, Curve Lake, Rama, and Scugog Island) respesenting the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabek, Transport Canada, the City of Peterborough, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Etc..
