To: The Wake County School Board, Rolesville Town Council, and Wake County Sheriff’s Office

The Hazard:

Hundreds of students at Rolesville Middle School
 utilize the track and athletic fields daily. Directly across Burlington Mills Road lies a 40-acre "Regulatory Void"  where unregulated, high-velocity gunfire is a constant occurrence.

The Facts:
Stray Bullets: Rounds have already struck residential windows in the immediate vicinity.
Ballistic Risk: Common rifles have a lethal range of over 2 miles. The student track is only ~800 yards from the firing line.

Acoustic/Psychological Impact: Children should not have to exercise or compete to the sound of proximity gunfire.

Government Inaction: The Town and Sheriff claim they are "unable to confirm" violations due to private property lines. They have explicitly stated they will not act until a child is actually struck.

Our Demand:

We, the parents and citizens of Rolesville, refuse to wait for a tragedy. We demand that the Town of Rolesville immediately Annex or use its Summary Abatement powers (NCGS § 160A-193) to shut down this lawless firing zone. Student lives must take priority over bureaucratic "donut holes."  Rolesville PD should have jurisdiction over this regulatory void!
