We, the undersigned, strongly support efforts to enhance Maine's media production tax incentives. We urge Maine’s Department of Economic & Community Development to undertake as a priority the Resolution passed in the last legislative session in order to arrive at a well-considered amendment or replacement to the current visual media legislation. We support  these crucial updates that will grow Maine's creative economy by:

• Prioritizing Maine talent, labor, and locations
• Increasing the available tax credits for qualified film production expenses and wages
• Providing additional incentives for filming in rural counties featuring Maine's unique locations
• Lowering the spending threshold to qualify, allowing more productions to access the program
• Making the credits refundable and transferable to increase their value and utilization

A robust media production incentive program will create good jobs for locals, promote tourism, and inject significant economic activity into communities across Maine.
