The Issue

We, the undersigned parents and guardians, respectfully request that the transportation decision denying bus service to our subdivision (at 8th line and professor Day) and other subdivisions that are not being provided with bussing transportation to the new Bradford school, be reviewed immediately.

According to the published transportation policy, students living 1.6 kilometres or more from the school are eligible for bussing. Many families in our community meet this requirement, yet our children have been denied transportation while other students within the same subdivision continue to receive bus service. We are requesting a clear explanation of the criteria used to make these decisions.

Our greatest concern is student safety. Children are expected to walk along a busy main road, including very young students, making the route unsafe and unreasonable. This decision also increases traffic congestion around the school as more parents are forced to drive their children, creating additional safety risks during drop-off and pick-up.

Many families were not notified that transportation had been denied. Those receiving bus service were informed, while those losing transportation received no advance communication, leaving families with little time to make alternative arrangements. This is especially concerning for families whose children have already been reassigned to a new school through boundary changes.

We believe this situation raises important concerns regarding consistency, transparency, and, most importantly, student safety. We ask that this appeal be given prompt consideration and that our children be granted transportation to the new school.

We believe every child deserves a safe route to school and ask that this decision be reconsidered in the interest of fairness, consistency, and student safety.
