Petition for Olievenhoutbosch Township to have its own TVET College.

Petition for Olievenhoutbosch Township to have its own TVET College.
Why this petition matters
To: The Minister Of Higher Education
There is a high need of a TVET College for the community of Olievenhoutbosch. There are no Universities of Technology, TVET Colleges nor any CED Colleges in the immediate area of Olievenhoutbosch.
Olievenhoutbosch(Olieven) is situated in Centurion under the Greater Tshwane Municipality. Olieven is one of the biggest townships in Tshwane Region 4 and there is'nt enough institution of higher learning in the region. The township consists of 2 wards- ward 77 and ward 106.
It is understood that as part of Higher Education system, TVET Colleges accept students who have completed grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 at high school level. University post-graduates can also enroll for courses at TVET colleges for more practical exposure, it is therefore amongst many other reasons why Olievenhoutbisch needs higher institution of learning build in the area for community.
As an example, information received from Seshegong Secondary School situated in Olievenhoutbosch is, 2020 matric class obtained 97% pass rate higher than 92.9% attained in the year 2019 National Senior Certificate Examination. The 197 learners wrote the exam in 2020 from 169 in 2019. From 2018, the school has attained an average of 94.4% pass rate. Over 10 government schools and over 20 private schools produce high volumes of matriculants year on year let alone grade 9, 10 and grade 11 current volumes also looking out to enroll on TVET colleges outside the area.
High population of Olieven township dectates for its own TVET college. Students from poor background do not afford transport and meals to and from college.
Year 2011 Census data published by Statistics South Africa shows Olievenhoutbosch has a population of 70 863, with over 40% youth unemployment rate.
There are 10 government schools around Centurion near Olievenhoutbosch feeding to TVET colleges that are outside the township, and those colleges are very far away from Olievehoutbosch. Centurion alone has 30 schools, government schools combined with private schools that needs to feed to the new proposed TVET college.
TVET College in Olievenhoutbosch will reduce unemployment rate, crime rate in the area, and will address socio-economic issues in the area. The school in the area will also boost township economy of Olievenhoutbosh and the entire Region 4 of Tshwane.
