Petition for Special Meeting of MIBOR REALTOR Association
Please be advised that the undersigned below, representing at least 10% of the current membership of MIBOR REALTOR Association, are formally requesting a Special Meeting of the Membership of MIBOR for the purpose of voting on the following objectives:
1) The termination of MIBOR CEO Shelley Specchio. Under Specchio’s leadership, we have encountered botched roll outs of 3 separate technology platforms that are critical to our daily tasks and responsibilities. She has replaced reliable, proven, and easy-to-use platforms with unreliable, unproven, and difficult to navigate replacements. She has acted recklessly, defying the recommendations of the vendors she selected for testing, implementation, and running concurrently with previous systems. Her actions have damaged all our businesses, exposed us to liabilities, and have pushed our clients to competitive portals, Zillow and the like, to find accurate listing information. She has outsourced call center operations and tech support to an answering service that has increased hold time for members. MIBOR is much worse than it was when Specchio took the helm.
2) To disband MIBOR Service Corporation and Broker Listing Cooperative and join Indiana Regional MLS as our MLS provider. MIBOR has proven itself to be unable to manage our MLS, showing system, and lockbox management systems in a satisfactory manner. IRMLS is currently managing the MLS for 13 separate Associations in the State of Indiana, and has done so without any major disruptions to its subscribers. Joining IRMLS will make us a member of a broader organization and prevent a “big fish in a small pond” from having oversized influence in the systems we all rely upon. This will also make MIBOR members part of a broader marketplace, encompassing most of the State of Indiana.
3) To hold a Special Election for all seats on the Board of Directors of MIBOR. It is clear that the current BoD’s have given up their authority to direct the CEO and have proven themselves out of touch with the membership they are supposed to represent. Furthermore, the President of the Board, Clay Bowden’s comment at the March on MIBOR meeting that “this is not a democracy,” should disqualify him from leading the organization that he was elected to lead. This special election shall be an open nomination of members by members, and shall commence within 1 month of this Special Meeting, with newly elected Directors being seated within 2 weeks after the results of the election are certified.
