We, the residents and concerned road users raise our objections and raise our voices jointly against the application to road closures of 3rd Ave and Robinson Road and West Road, Mayfair, Jhb. We definitely do not see any benefit to these roads being barricaded and blocked off for usage by regular Road users and commuters. The blocking off of those streets is benefit to a few self centred people living in the immediate vicinity. It was really an inconvenience to many of us when it was illegally blocked off for usage from a greater majority of the roads users.
We worked very hard on ensuring the roads were open for usage and barricades being removed by the City of Johannesburg to ensure the safety and convenience of road users and residents within the area. Our biggest challenge is road traffic congestion and safety of school kids and padaestrians on 3rd avenue. With these roads being blocked off, the adjacent roads take a battering by congestion as many use these roads as through fare to the main business areas around mayfair and also to access the various places of worship. Further, the closure of these roads would be disruptive and force traffic past the EP Bauman primary school, putting risk to lives of children and paedestrians. 
Please, we ask if the City of Jhb, councillors and the  Committee to be cognoscenti to the peoples pleas and ensure that the Mayfair area remains safe and it’s people protected from harm that could result from barricading these roads. We look forward to your commitment to us having a safe suburb with proper traffic management.
