Remain on Google Classroom rather than changing to Brightspace/D2L
The Issue
Google Classroom has been running efficiently for years. It has a clean, tidy format which can be easily navigated. Brightspace/D2L on the other hand is a poorly organized site which is hard for both students and teachers to use. Every student who is asked which platform they like better will say 'google classroom' every single time. Let's make sure the board does not switch platforms.
Over the years google has added many useful features, such as the task bar on the right hand side (which tracks assignments and displays their due dates), an easy way to view your peers, access to your teacher's email with a single click, and last but not least, a classwork tab which displays all teaching material posted, as well as assignments, highlighting unfinished work in green. Teachers have also received updates, like being able to schedule course work to be sent at a certain time, post quizzes using Google Forms, organized their students calendars and link material in their google drive with the Classroom. This has made Google Classroom incredibly easy to navigate, for both students and teachers.
Unlike google classroom, Brightspace/D2L is a messy, poorly coded platform which takes hours to learn. It has a horrible format, and assignments are incredibly hard to find. It has no redeeming features. Both students and teachers despise the platform, and forcing people to adapt to it just because it is government funded is a huge mistake. It's a bad platform which makes learning at home thrice as difficult as it needs to be.
