The Issue

In the heart of our community lies Rise Fitness Dunstable, a sanctuary for both physical and mental well-being, offering an environment that is as welcoming as it is inclusive. Rise Fitness is not just a gym; it’s a communal hub that many, depend on. As one of the few disability-friendly fitness centres around, it provides an essential service to those who are often marginalised, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has access to facilities that support their health and well-being.

For many of us in Dunstable, Rise Fitness is more than a place to work out; it's where we connect, support each other, and foster a sense of belonging. With it being the most affordable membership in the area. It remains accessible to all segments of the community, which is crucial in a time where such services are becoming less affordable.

The impending eviction by Central Bedfordshire College threatens to dismantle this vital community service, leaving many without a safe space to engage socially and physically. The consequences of this eviction would be devastating; it would not only impact those who rely on its facilities for regular exercise but also those who gain mental health support through social interaction and friendship fostered within its walls.

We urge Central Bedfordshire College to halt the eviction process and work with Rise Fitness to find a more sustainable solution. Alternatives such as negotiating lease terms or seeking community funding could help maintain this invaluable service without the need for eviction.

By supporting this petition, you’re standing up for a community resource that enhances local well-being, inclusivity, and social interaction. Please join us in requesting Central Bedfordshire College to pause the eviction and explore viable solutions that will allow Rise Fitness to continue serving the community. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and protect a cornerstone of Dunstable that genuinely makes a difference in people’s lives.
